Is it the end of Garbage.net? [11-14-2002] In a way this is the end for new Garbage information at Garbage.net. I'm sure a lot of you saw this coming since I really haven't updated in months. The reason for this is that I am really disappointed with the last album and the way the band is going. I hate Shirley's new look, the red hair was one of the things that made her stand out. Call me superficial but that's how I feel about that. BeautifulGarbage is just an OK album with a stupid name. There are about twice as many slow songs this time. There are some songs I just have to skip over all the time. I wasn't that happy transcribing the lyrics for the album. If you like the way Garbage is headed right now, good for you. I wish Garbage the best of success for the future whatever style they wish to follow. Unfortunately if BeautifulGarbage is any indication of where the band is headed then I'm not really interested. If they can ever capture the raw energy of the first album that made me fall in love with them then I will reopen this site with new information, lyrics, tour dates, etc. But I don't see that happening. Instead of closing down "www.garbage.net" I will just make it an experimental personal site for the time being. You are more than welcome to look around and I completely understand if you are not really interested. Hopefully the new site will reflect a side of me that I couldn't really show with a Garbage site since I just reported facts before. Now I can actually have an opinion without worrying how it will affect Garbage. No, I don't think I'm amazingly influential but 1,000 visitors a day every day for a year adds up. If I would have said how much I hated Shirley's blonde hair from day one then that would be around 300,000 people seeing my negative opinions which might not be good for the band. I've decided to keep parts of the site open at http://www.garbage.net/garbage/ which is the page you are reading right now. All the accurate lyrics, the huge number of articles, fonts, tabs, and discography will still be available for you to see and download. No pictures will be available, sorry. I bet you would find it hard to believe but 90% of all the traffic from this website was mostly for people downloading the Shirley photos. To recap, garbage.net is not Garbage anymore, but I will keep the old Garbage information available for people since other major Garbage sites have also closed down and took everything with them. I think that's kinda sucky personally. I mean if you are just going to shut down one day at least leave the old stuff for people to reference. It would suck to lose all those articles I have up here. Again, Garbage.net will still function as a new site with updated information regarding emulation, personal thoughts, photo albums, #ChicagoChat information, and the fun.E. So please, even though I'm sure you are mad, give it a try. You'll find it much more fun than a news site. If you don't then that's OK too. Finally I would like to thank all of the people who visited this site on a regular basis. All 2.7+ million of you. Thank you Garbage for creating those amazing first 2 albums.
